How to Become a Volunteer for the
DeKalb County School District

  1. Complete the Volunteer Application and Release Form
     
  2. Complete the DCSD Volunteer Code of Conduct
     
  3. Complete the Mandated Reporter Course (1hr video and quiz)
  • Create an account (no cost)
  • Choose State: GA
  • Click Child Abuse and Neglect Course: Mandated Reporter
  • Click Start Course
  • Complete Quiz
  • Save or print your certificate
     
  4. Send a copy of your certificate to DCSDvolunteer@dekalbschoolsga.org
 
  5. Attend a volunteer training
      Email DCSDvolunteer@dekalbschoolsga.org to schedule a face-to-face volunteer training
      OR       
      Choose a 30 minute Zoom presentation from the following winter and spring 2025 meetings

Completing the above steps grants Level II volunteer status. To chaperone on overnight trips and for other roles that may include being alone with children, volunteers must obtain Level III status by completing step 6 below.   6. Background Check
 
Once you have completed the Volunteer Training you will be emailed a link that will direct you to get your background check (offered Tuesdays &Thursdays at NO COST for DCSD guardians and parents). You will be given a picture ID badge that is to be worn when you volunteer.
